welcome to 45 and fabulous!

i seem to be always in front of the computer most of the day writing email, dabbling with facebook, listening to pandora and tapping on my iPhone that seems to be glued to my hand despite my occupation as a trainer. on november 30th, 2009, i've finally manifested my idea of really getting CYBER OUT THERE and officially 'gave birth' to this blog, '45 and fabulous'.

this will be a forum where i'll share my thoughts, actions, contacts and experiences about being in my mid 40's and feeling and looking better than ever. never in my life have i been more fit, more ripped, sexier and, best of all, wiser. was it just my divorce? i don't think i can give my ex that much credit! that said, i'm experiencing the magic of getting older but better...a truth not often burnished nor an ideal upheld in our youth-crazed world.

being a gym owner, i also see LOTS of other women in this stage in their lives--mothers, divorcees, cougars, MILFS, beverly hills moms...you name it.. but all of them at the prime of their lives-- i'll be sharing and featuring their own ideas, passions, secrets, tricks and tips to staying foxy in their 40s.

ever been to paris and noticed how stylishly hot their older women seemed? think lena olin, charlotte rampling... domestically, i think of women aging not just gracefully but incredibly sexily like halle berry, sarah jessica parker, cate blanchett. i'd like to see this project as a tiny nudge in the right direction of getting our society to look at women at this age group a bit differently.

sometimes you just need a break!

my sporty spice lifestyle finally caught up with me at 525am. i couldn't believe it was time to get up. i felt like dead weight. there was no way in this world for me to get up and train a client in an hour. and then after that, another run??!!? OMG...

i cancelled my client AND my run (somehow the ability to text remains in the foggiest of states) and found myself in the same exact position three hours later, this time much better rested.

fortunately, i was able to muster enough energy to later play an energetic 2 hours of tennis hitting forehands and backhands.

thankfully, this day also coincided with another one of my dear clients treating me to a korean spa and massage treatment with a sushi dinner afterwards. this could not have come at a better time!

so, the lesson here is you gotta listen to what your body is telling you. at mid-age (sounds awful doesn't it?), your body has experienced a lot of life and extra care must be given to it if you want it to be dependable! i'm sure this day of 'taking it easy' i.e. no training, no lifting, no running... just tennis, some work, jacuzzi, massage, sushi and sake, will do wonders for me the rest of the week (like tomorrow) when once again, i'll push it like i'm vying for the next olympic berth.

so, if you can pull it off and sleep in instead....just do it!
